This is David's third worship album and is a delightful gem of a pop/folk/Celtic crossover. His MySpace describes himself as a "writer of worship songs that people sometimes use in churches or other spaces". Listening to the first three tracks alone on this album, I think in this statement he undersells himself; all of these songs would work well in a congregational/worship setting, "Almighty" could have come from the pen of Brian Doerksen. Equally this is an album that you can sit and listen to at home and get lost in. David is ably supported by a talented group of musicians, including his wife Yvonne. "These Tears" is a hauntingly beautiful piano vocal performed by Yvonne that reminded me of Damian Rice's "O". Rather confusingly, considering this is David's not Yvonne's album, the lass takes over lead vocal duties for at least half of the album, but such is the haunting quality of her voice and her husband's deft songwriting it still makes for a winning combination. The blend of upward focused lyrics, pop melody sensibility and skilfully played and recorded instruments with a Celtic tinge makes this stand out. 9/10
